Meet Aurora Halili (known as Julie) who is the founding partner of Aurora Hairdressing.  With more than 10 years’ experience in the hairdressing industry, Julie launched Aurora Hairdressing in 2013 with the aim of making it the best hairdressers in Northamptonshire.

She says: “Having your own business you learn to give up excuses, give up short term mindsets and give up toxic people.  You also learn that helping others is a big part of being successful and that you are the only person responsible for your failure or success.

Which hair styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I specialise in all aspects of ladies’ hairdressing but my top 3 areas are colour correction, colour change and balayage.  The reason why I love doing hair is because I get to impact the way someone presents themselves by enhancing their outer beauty.

What do you love about being a hairdresser?  The most rewarding part of what I do is not only you that you get to have people empowered by the way they look and feel, you get to connect and built true friendship with coworkers and clients.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?  I am inspired by my need to give my clients a great result as well as a memorable experience. I am inspired to perform at my best because I love what I do and because there are people who go out of their way to sit in my chair. They wait a long time and play lot of money, and I see it as a privilege to have the opportunity to exceed their expectations.

If you had to live on a desert island, which three hair products would you take with you?  Mythic Oil, Olaplex, Wild Styler Mousse.

What is your ultimate ambition?  My ultimate ambition is to have an award-winning salon and be able to inspire other stylists to achieve their goals and potential. 

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?  Level headed.  Ambitious.  Driven.

Tell is something about yourself that would surprise others… I can’t swim – well I can but I need armbands and my husband and my son always make fun of me!

Kelsey

This is our Apprentice Kelsey who has been hairdressing for nearly two years, learning the skills it takes to become a qualified stylist.

Which hairstyles or colours do you love creating?  I love dong balayage.

What do you love about being a hairdresser?  I love being creative, transforming people’s hair so they feel happy about themselves.

Who inspires you to create great hair?  Chris McMillan and my bosses Julie & Vee.

If you had to live on a desert island, which 3 hair products would you take with you?  Heat protection, shampoo and an oil.

What is your ultimate ambition?  To be the best-known salon owner around.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?  Happy, relaxed and easy-going.

Chelsea

Say hello to our Apprentice Chelsea who is learning what it takes to become a successful hairdresser. 

Which hairstyles or colours do you love creating?  I love doing balayage because, if it is a big transformation, it shows off what you can achieve. I also like doing hair ups but I am still learning how to do this so I can improve.

Who do you love about being a hairdresser?  What I love most about being a hairdresser is colouring. I love being able to try new things and seeing the results.

Who or what inspires you to create great hair?  I love looking at hair images on Instagram which inspires me to try new styles and colours.

If you had to live on a desert island, which 3 hair products would you take with you? Hairspray, heat protection, hair oil.

What is your ultimate ambition?  My ultimate ambition is to be a really good hairdresser that people want to come back to again and again.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words? Outgoing, talkative, happy.

Tell us something surprising about yourself… This one has always shocked people but since I was little I always said I was going to be a hairdresser. Throughout school everyone would ask and my answer would stay the same. They would always say you don’t know what you want to do yet – but I did!

Demi

Say ‘hi’ to our Apprentice Demi who is learning what it takes to become a successful, qualified hairdresser. 

Which styles or colours do you love doing?  I love curling hair and trying out new styles such as plaits and hair ups.  It’s great when you can see that your client is happy and satisfied with the hairstyle you’ve created.

What do you love about being a hairdresser? I love creating new styles and working with clients to find a look that suits them.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? My boss Julie inspires me.

If you had to live on a desert island, which 3 hair products would you take with you?  Shampoo, conditioner and hairspray. 

What is your ultimate ambition? To succeed in the hairdressing industry.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?  Hard working, team player and I also work on my own initiative. 

Tell us something about you that would surprise others… I can’t swim (only with armbands.)

Vee

Meet Viliana (known as Vee), business partner of Aurora Hairdressing.  Vee has been in the hairdressing industry for a 12 years.  She says: “I was very lucky to start my hairdressing career with a talented and passionate hairdresser, who taught me to adore the hairdressing industry and to keep following my dreams. I have worked in a few different places and each one of them was a progressive step ahead to build myself as a confident, professional and successful hairdresser.”

Which hair styles or colours do you absolutely love doing?  My entire passion is hairdressing in general, but most particular are bob styles, colour corrections, toners, balayage and I am renowned for my blow dries. They all can be very creative or at the same time quite natural. Blow drying is something which I love doing – it is a very important part of what I do because it shows off the cut and colour I have created. 

What do you love about being a hairdresser?  I love many things about being a hairdresser. The relationship which you build with the client is very special, you look forward seeing them every next time with pleasure. To hear their calm words “ I am trusting you” is incomparable.

The satisfaction and happiness shown on their faces when they see the end result and the trust and faith they have in you, makes you feel privileged that they have chosen you to be their hairdresser.  Being a good hairdresser is a gift you are born with.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? I’m inspired by the new trends, my clients, my teammates, and other professionals who are passionate about their career in hairdressing. I’m constantly learning.

If you had to live on a desert island, which three hair products would you take with you? Shampoo, mask, mythic oil leave in.

What is your ultimate ambition?  I am doing it at the moment, working with an amazing team of talented stylists to make the salon  succeed to a level of being recognised within the hairdressing industry for excellence.

How would you describe yourself in three words? Loud, ambitious, perfectionist.

Tell us something about you that would surprise others… I am not as loud and chatty at home.

Mya

Say hello to Mya who qualified as a hairdresser in 2001, working her way up from salon assistant through to apprentice. She is now a Senior Stylist at Aurora Hairdressing. 

Which hair styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I love doing colours, especially balayage and foil work, because the results are all different and can look stunning.

What do you love about being a hairdresser? I love that every day is different – and it’s great to see clients leaving feeling happy and confident with their hair! 

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? I look a lot on social media for the new trends and styles.

If you had to live on a desert island, which three hair products would you take with you? Mythic Oil, 10 in 1 Leave In Hair Treatment, Absolute Repair Mask. 

What is your ultimate ambition? To succeed and make clients happy.
